Make the Most of Your Smile With Esthetic Dentistry
Whether you want a few touch-ups or a total transformation of your smile, Dr. Flavin and the rest of the staff at Healthy Smiles of Saint Louis have the training, experience, and expertise to give you the smile of your dreams!
Most of Dr. Flavin’s esthetic treatments begin with a wax-up of your teeth. These are sculpted mockups created from impressions of your teeth that will allow you to see what your finished smile will look like. Wax-ups are an art that takes a sculptor’s hands, superior technology, and years of training and practice.
When you see beautiful, nearly perfect smiles in magazines or on TV, in many cases what you’re looking at is porcelain veneers. Wafer-thin porcelain shells are permanently bonded to your teeth for the absolute symmetry of a natural, beautiful smile.
Dental bonding is one of the most versatile options in cosmetic dentistry. A composite resin is applied to the tooth in thin layers that chemically bonds to each other. Bonding can be used to repair a broken or cracked tooth, adjust your bite, close small gaps, or cover a badly stained tooth.
Tooth and Gum Recontouring
Tooth and gum recontouring can make major changes in your smile with very slight changes. Gum tissue that’s covering up your teeth can be removed using a laser that minimizes bleeding and swelling, and reduces healing time. Teeth that are longer than others, overlap each other, or create a poor bite can be recontoured by filing away small, precise bits of enamel.
Tooth whitening treatments can lighten your teeth up to 10 shades. Dr. Flavin and his experienced team at Healthy Smiles of Saint Louis offer in-office whitening options, or they can make up prescription strength whitening trays that you can use at home.
In some cases, more of the tooth needs to be exposed in order to restore it, or enhance it cosmetically. It involves removing gum or bone tissue to reveal more of the tooth. Dr. Flavin uses a soft tissue diode laser to remove gum tissue and expose more of the tooth.
Full Mouth Restoration
These are terms we use for a total smile transformation. A patient may need a great deal of restorative and cosmetic work for a smile that’s extremely damaged, stained, or crooked. Or a patient may want a smile makeover to cosmetically enhance his or her teeth. In either case, the team at Healthy Smiles of Saint Louis will apply some form of restoration or enhancement to all or nearly all of the patient’s teeth. It can be a life-changing transformation for someone who has lived with a poor smile for years, and a dream come true for the patient who wants the ultimate in smile esthetics.
